Arts and Crafts Room Project Report

We are delighted to announce that Newport Cottage Care Centre’s Arts and Crafts Room has been completed (pictured below). The dedicated Arts and Crafts Room will allow the Centre to offer an extensive range of arts and crafts activities to the community.

After sourcing a number of supporters, including The Rank Foundation, the Centre managed to successfully furnish and equip the room and are now hiring an arts and crafts tutor to assist the classes.  This has greatly enhanced the service that the Centre provides and will be of benefit to all clients through mental stimulation, relaxation, social interaction and maintaining dexterity. Art as therapy for those with dementia will also be of great benefit.

The use of the Arts and Crafts Room has only just begun, but the Centre anticipates that the promotion of well-being for their clients will quickly become evident.

Angie Lusa, the Fundraising Assistant at the Centre, expressed her gratitude to those who contributed towards the project:

‘’We have been overwhelmed by the support that we have received for this project from the local community and local press as well as the many grants from charitable trusts and foundations. The benefits to our clients and the local community should be evident for many years to come.’’
